About Rachel

I am Rachel Yakar, a registered and licensed Occupational Therapist. Throughout my career, I've dedicated myself to providing family-centered treatment interventions. I believe in harnessing my client's strengths, addressing their needs, and setting functional goals that positively impact their daily lives and relationships. My specialization lies in offering evidence-based occupational therapy evaluations and treatment interventions to children and families, focusing on improving their daily lives through healthy habits and routines that enhance well-being. In my practice, I draw upon various frames of reference and theories, including sensory integration, motor learning, human development, the transtheoretical model of change, motivational interviewing, positive psychology, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and dynamic systems theory.

My journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I pursued a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. I am committed to ongoing learning and development, regularly engaging in continuing education through the University of Southern California. I completed the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course at the University of Nevada Reno, and most recently obtained my 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Certification through Yoga Alliance.

When I'm not collaborating with clients, I serve as a California County Commissioner, passionately advocating for increased health and wellness resources for families within the community. I also contribute to the Community Foundation's Grant and Scholarship Committee, advocating for young adults to prioritize their education.

Outside of helping families

Other interests.

Chasing my husband and children up and down mountains, knitting complicated sweater patterns, hiking with friends, and traveling to sunny surf locations. I also love to bake bread.

Kinspire uses a genuine, family-centered approach to meet parents and children where they are, and I can support families to build practical strategies to manage tough and challenging situations in a collaborative way.
